Denim Headz NYC is a photographic love letter to New York, told through denim. Worn across generations and subcultures, denim becomes both subject and connective tissue. A familiar material through which individuality, identity, and place are revealed. Shot on 35mm and 120mm film, the photographs embrace the texture, grain, and imperfections of the analog process, creating portraits that feel intimate, tactile, and distinctly human.

Photographer Zackery Michael and creative director Lola McDonnell document the people who inhabit the city, treating denim not simply as fashion, but as a visual language. Across neighborhoods, backgrounds, and personal styles, each portrait becomes a fragment of a larger portrait of New York—a city constantly worn in, altered, and remade by the people who move through it.

Denim Headz NYC exists as both an archive and an object. Together, the images preserve a moment in the life of the city, with denim as the thread connecting its people, streets, and stories.
